Announcement

Sweetwater Family Resource Center is proud to be part of what makes this community strong. From rental, deposit and utility assistance to prevent homelessness and emergency shelter for the homeless in cold months, we’re here to meet real needs. Because when it counts, nonprofits get it done.

Every year, Sweetwater Family Resource Center helps an average of 959 people in Sweetwater County. This year to date we have helped 347 neighbors, friends and community members with housing needs and referrals. Behind every number is a story. We do it because it matters. Because people matter. Nonprofits get it done — and we’re proud to be one of them.

When housing needs impact our community, we don’t wait. We step up. Sweetwater Family Resource Center is a trusted partner in housing resources and referrals. That’s who we are.

With the new administration, we are facing financial cuts. These are challenging times and as we navigate these changes some adjustments need to be made. We will continue to help those who are truly in need, but we are not able to help with the following:

Emergency Shelter in the summer months or if a plan to acquire and maintain your housing is not in place

(job, affordable rent amount, etc.).

Deposit or rental assistance if a plan to acquire or maintain your housing is not in place (job, affordable rent amount, etc.).

We also cannot pay rent if your rent is already subsidized (Rock Springs Housing authority, Bicentennial, Green Rock Apartments, Rock Butte Apartments, Mansface Terrace, ect.).  If you have questions, please reach out to your case manager.

We do not pay the whole amount due, only a portion. We have yearly household limits of eligible assistance.  The first year of assistance is capped at $900.00, second year $ 600.00 and third year $300.00.

We cannot help if you do not have an eviction notice or 3-day notice to quit. Once again, we can only provide partial payment.

For utility assistance you must have a shut-off notice and be able to make a payment plan with the utility company. We usually cannot pay the whole amount due to prevent shut off.  This service also has a yearly household limit.  LIEAP and Energy Share are programs that can help in the winter months. Reach out to us if you have any questions.
